The GoodBirth Network recognizes birth centers that are striving to provide quality care for mothers, newborns, families, and communities.  Global health organizations, including the World Health Organization, have established goals for safe births.  The only safety and quality standards specific for birth centers, however, are those developed for use in the United States by the American Association of Birth Centers (AABC) and the Accreditation Commission for Birth Centers (CABC). GoodBirth member organizations are presently translating these sets of standards along with other global resources to create good birth practices for birth centers in a global context.  We invite your comments and participation so that global birth center achievements can be recognized and appropriately applauded.  (
